Have you begun to feel pain, numbness, or tingling in your extremities? This could be caused by vein issues. If visible or deeply set large veins are causing you physical discomfort, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy may be able to provide you with the relief you desire. This simple, non-invasive treatment can eliminate large veins without extended discomfort or downtime.

What is Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy?

Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive procedure used to eliminate large veins, clinically referred to as varicose veins, that are hidden deep beneath the skin. During treatment, a sclerosing solution is injected into the affected vein using the help of ultrasound guidance. This ultrasound technology allows our physicians to accurately and precisely inject the solution into the target vein. Once this sclerosing solution is injected into the vein, it causes the walls of that vein to rupture and collapse in on themselves. Once the vein has completely collapsed, it is gradually absorbed by the body.

Each treatment typically takes about 30 minutes to complete and requires absolutely no anesthesia. Following treatment, patients are fitted with compression stockings and advised to walk around frequently to promote proper blood flow into the deeper veins.

How can Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy help Correct Large Veins?

This treatment offers patients a simple and easy way to eliminate large veins without the need for a painful or extensive surgical procedure.

It’s vital that individuals have large veins, clinically referred to as “varicose veins,” eliminated from the body as soon as they begin to produce adverse side effects. These side effects can vary dramatically and may include swelling, pain, cramping, weakness or tingling in the extremities. Even if your symptoms are initially mild, large veins can eventually lead to the development of serious blood clots if left untreated.

A simple way to determine if your discomfort is caused by a venous disorder is to elevate your feet while you are experiencing leg pain; if the pain improves, your symptoms are likely caused by a large vein.
