Compression therapy is a non-invasive way to address the uncomfortable symptoms that often accompany spider and varicose veins. Compression therapy may also be recommended to prevent a current vein condition from worsening. These medical-grade stockings are also used after most vein treatments to encourage healthy blood flow, improve results and reduce the risk of complications.
ABOUT COMPRESSION THERAPY
Compression therapy usually involves special stockings that fit tightly around the foot and ankle and gradually loosen as they move up the leg. This allows for improved blood flow up the leg, which promotes a healthier vascular system and prevents the formation of dangerous blood clots in the veins of the lower legs. Compression stockings come in a variety of grades, allowing us to customize treatment to the specific needs of each individual patient.
While compression therapy cannot “cure” a vein disorder when used alone, it can be an important aspect of other vein treatments. Our patients are taught how to use them effectively to help with their symptoms and improve treatment results.
