Insurance and Billing for Vein Treatment
The Advanced Vein Center participates with most insurance companies. We also accept Medicare and MaineCare.
Upon registration, our office will ask for your health insurance information as well as take a photocopy of your insurance card at your first visit. We will then confirm your coverage through our verification process.
A referral from your primary care physician may be necessary to be seen at our office, especially if you have a managed care plan, such as an HMO. AVC requires that all MaineCare patients obtain a referral from their primary care physician. As a patient, it is your responsibility to make sure that your referral is in place prior to being seen for an appointment in our office. It is important to have an open line of communication with your primary care physician about the care you are asking to receive.
Pre-certification will be necessary for any procedure or surgery that may be recommended to you. Our office will take care of the pre-certification process and you will be kept informed of the progress of that process. Some insurance companies do not accept the pre-certification of recommended procedures; this will be discussed with you if your insurance company denies coverage for a procedure that has been recommended.
When a procedure or surgery is done in our office there will be one bill for the date of service on which treatment was received at Advanced Vein Center.
Please call our office with any questions you may have about our billing process and/or insurance coverage information.
